In 15 years, America will look like ...

Trillion dollar Deficits.  High School Drop out Rates.  Democrats and Republicans.  Unemployment rates.  Economic Melt downs.  Bail Outs.  Jobs being outsourced.  Wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and maybe Korea.  TSA pat-downs.  Failing Education system.  When all of these issues are viewed, doesn't this make you feel a little uncomfortable?  It seems that when you look at the News or see movies such as, "Waiting For Superman", you seem powerless to help influence the wrongs in society to make them all right.  However, being the type of person that I am, I know that we all can do something to make a difference in the challenges here in America.  With that said, I want to ask you all in the blogosphere a question.  Where will America be in 15 years from now?  Think about our current political environment, our educational challenges, our economic conundrums and the decisions made or not made to address these issues.  If this continues, where will we as a Nation be?

Now that I scared you enough, lets talk about some things I think would make this country better.  First, lets get rid of the National debt.  Why?  If we pay the National Debt off, then we have billions and even trillions of dollars freed up to spend elsewhere.  Then, we re-think our spending habits as a country and not spend beyond what we receive in revenue.  The next thing I would suggest is just as important as the first.  Invest in Education.  Now, we already spend a lot of money on each pupil in public schools in this country, but it is time to invest our time as individuals and ideas towards improving education in America.  If one looks at America's Math and reading scores compared to our global counterparts, it is a shame that we lag behind.  We have some of the best colleges and universities on Earth, but we still do not graduate every student and adequately prepare all those students who do graduate high school to graduate from college.  Don't take my Word for it, just see what the Education Secretary has to say about our education climate here: http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/education/july-dec10/duncan_12-07.html.

Again, I am looking for ideas as to what do people think when asked, Where will America be in 15 years from now? What can we do change this country in a positive manner?
